Preity Zinta honoured with the Smita Patil Memorial award

Preity Zinta who has been away from news and media for a long time now, received the Smita Patil Memorial Award at the Priyadarshini Academy Awards ceremony yesterday (September 19) in Mumbai.

Preity received the award for her distinguished work in the film industry. The Priyadarshini Academy, which is engaged in socio-cultural and educational activities, has been conducting this award ceremony since its inception in 1984, honoring both national and international achievers.

Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh was the chairman of the function while bigwigs such as industrialist Anand Mahindra, aviation minister Praful Patel, Maharashtra finance minister Jayant Patil, and Union petroleum minister Murli Deora also made their presence felt.
